The Selma Fire Department, Craig Volunteer Fire Department and Care Ambulance responded to an emergency call at Globe Metallurgical on Old Montgomery Highway Tuesday afternoon shortly after noon.
Details of what happened are limited, but according to Selma Fire Chief Toney Stephens, a worker was burned badly. It is unclear if there was a fire in the plant or an explosion.
Radio traffic indicated the worker suffered severe burns and was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center by Care Ambulance.
Stephens said the scene was under control when the Selma Fire Department arrived at the plant.
Multiple calls to Globe Metallurgical Tuesday afternoon for comment were not returned. The condition of the worker at this time is unclear and has not been identified.
According to its website, Globe specializes in silicon metals and specialty alloys, which are used industrial and consumer products.
