Each year, Bush Hog Inc. builds a pink zero-turn lawnmower and displays it at expos all over the country. The company offers people a chance to win the pink mower by making donations to the Joy to Life Foundation, which supports the fight against breast cancer. Every $10 someone donates counts as an entry in the drawing.

Just like last year, Bush Hog raised enough money through the raffle to donate $10,000 to the foundation. The company presented the check to the foundation last week in front of the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery.

“We are proud to work with a fellow Alabama organization in this critical cause. Breast Cancer has impacted the lives of our families and our Bush Hog family, and every life that can be saved by early detection and treatment is a blessing,” said Jerry Worthington, president of Bush Hog Inc. in a statement.

Worthington said the pink zero-turn lawnmower has become a focal point of Bush Hog’s shows. This year, the mower was won by Tricia Brewster, who is from North Richland Hills, Texas.

“We advertise the Joy to Life cause at all our shows, and offer a chance to win the pink ZT if individuals would like to donate to the cause,” said Jimmy Anderson, national sales manager for Bush Hog.

This year’s $10,000 donation brings the total amount Bush Hog has donated to Joy to Life up to around $35,000 over the last four years.

“We can’t tell you how important this is to us,” said Joy Blondheim, co-founder and director of the foundation. “Since we last met with y’all, we’ve done over $160,000 in screenings for women just under 40. Because of our car tag and wonderful supporters like Bush Hog, we’re able to continue this mission of trying to help women in Alabama get the screenings that they so need.”

The Joy to Life Foundation, which was founded in 2001, is a nonprofit organization based in Montgomery that’s goal is to provide free mammograms and other breast cancer screenings to women in Alabama who are medically underserved.
