There has been lots of activity over the last few days in downtown Selma. From the windows of the Times-Journal, we have seen a handful of tour buses stopping, letting off a bus load of visitors.

As the 53rd anniversary of Blood Sunday gets closer, our city will more than likely see more and more visitors making their way here and walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

As visitors come to our town, we should welcome them with open arms and embrace their visit here. Tourism is an important aspect to Selma. Its history brings people from far and wide to see it for themselves.

So, as more and more people stop in Selma, let’s show them a little bit of Southern hospitality. Point them in the right direction, tell them about places to grab a bite to each and make them feel welcome.
