A 68-year-old Selma man was killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident.
Senior Trooper Reginal King with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Ernest Hatcher was killed when the 1998 Chevrolet C1500 he was driving left the roadway and hit a tree.
The accident happened on Alabama Highway 140, which is also known as River Road, near the four-mile marker just four miles west of Selma.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Hatcher was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
No additional information on the accident has been released at this time by ALEA, and the accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
Hatcher’s crash was the third fatal traffic accident in Dallas County over the last few days. Two Selma men, 55-year-old Curtis Reed and 45-year-old Orlanda Tyrone Carter, were killed Sunday in a head-on collision on Alabama Highway 14 near the 121-mile marker.
Leroy Stover, 43, and Rashada “Rhonda” Colvin, 40, were killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Mulberry Road. Stover, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road and into a ravine, hitting two trees.
