Friday morning was a special day for those at the Rural Health Medical Program, as they broke ground on a new facility.

The new health center and central office is a $1.2 million project that included purchase of the building and renovating it. When the work is completed, the facility will offer five different services to people in Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry and Wilcox counties. The facility will offer optometry, OBGYN, dental, mental health and regular health checkups.

This healthcare facility will provide much needed services to people in rural communities all in one spot.
