EDITORIAL: Snow, ice shuts down Selma, Dallas County

The snow, ice and well below freezing temperatures have slowed things down in Selma and Dallas County over the last few days.

Most Schools have been out since last week because Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and due to the icy road conditions, all but two schools remained closed Friday.

Selma City Schools, Dallas County Schools and Ellwood decided to remain closed Friday, while Meadowview Christian School and Morgan Academy decided to open back up while excusing students for being late or absent due to the conditions.

While road conditions could be icy this morning, we encourage anyone that has to get out to drive with extra caution. Roads and bridges are still considered impassable by the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency.
