A Selma man died in a single-car accident over the New Years holiday weekend.

Chadwick Jabar Reed, 30, was killed after his 2013 Dodge Avenger went off the roadway and struck a tree before overturning.

The accident took place around 10:45 p.m. the night of Dec 29.

According to Alabama State Troopers, Reed was not using a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The crash took place about 10 miles outside of Selma close to mile marker 98 on U.S. 80.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the situation.
