Dodson joins Times-Journal newsroom

Adam Dodson, 22, has joined The Selma Times-Journal as a general assignment reporter.

Dodson is originally from Madison, where he attended Bob Jones High School.

During his time in Madison, Dodson was the editor of his high school’s Patriot Pages and also a staff writer for The Madison Weekly.

He has a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in communication studies from The University of Alabama.

During his time at the capstone, Dodson served as editor and staff writer for The Crimson White, UA’s campus newspaper.

“We are excited to welcome Adam to Selma and look forward to the contributions he will make in our coverage and in the community,” said Times-Journal editor Justin Averette.

Dodson enjoyed reporting on a variety of subjects for The Crimson White, mainly focusing on state, local and campus politics.

Dodson is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.

He will cover news for the Times-Journal as well as contribute to special sections and Selma The Magazine.

“I am honored to be part of such a great opportunity to begin my career,” Dodson said. “I am excited to become immersed in the Selma community and hope to give back in a positive way. I have lived in Alabama basically my entire life and am very happy to be staying here. I know I will have opportunities here and meet people here that will change my life for the better.”
