Annie Ruth Champion

Annie Ruth Champion, age 81, of McDonough, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017. She was an excellent Southern cook who loved the Lord and her family. Ann will be remembered by all for her kind eyes and sweet smile. She was born in Clay County, Georgia to the late Lester Wade and Emma Snipes Giles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus L. Champion; brothers, Wade Giles, Charlie Paul Giles, Walter Giles and Johnie Giles; and sister, Laura Eolin Henry.

Mrs. Champion is survived by her children, Debra (Ray) Gentry, of McDonough, Georgia, Bert L. (Candy) Champion of Opp, and Julie Ann (Buddy) Baker of Hunstville; grandchildren, Daniel (Kristy) Champion, Rachel Champion (Aric) Brooks, April Gentry (Peter) Witkowski, Hannah Champion, Allison Gentry, Laura Baker (Austin) Mason, and Charles Marcus Baker; great-grandchildren, Colby Champion, Walt Champion, Lexi Brooks, Jaxon Brooks, Londyn Champion, Luke Witkowski, Lily Witkowski, Dalton Lee Mason and Porter James Mason; and sister, Marinell Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30 at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Gardner and the Rev. John Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
