Each year, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution sponsors an annual Good Citizen Award Scholarship Program for high school seniors who have demonstrated the qualities of good citizenship: dependability, truthfulness, loyalty, service, cooperation, courtesy, leadership and patriotism.

DAR Good Citizens are eligible for awards beyond the chapter and state level.

Additionally, each school’s good citizen receives the DAR Good Citizens Pin, certificate and a gift.

Shown are Karim Oaks with Kellee Scheer of Morgan Academy; Artavius Rhodes with Major Larry Spicer of Selma High School; Amari Dran with Col. The winners were honored on Thursday, Dec. 14, at a recognition program and reception given by the local William Rufus King Chapter, NSDAR, ASDAR.

Parents and school sponsors were also recognized at the program. Congratulations are in order to all these students for their service to our community, their willingness to be role models and their exemplary citizenship.
