This Saturday’s seventh annual Artisans’ Fair at Sturdivant Hall will offer people the chance to do their Christmas shopping close to home.

The fair will offer all kinds of unique finds. Vendors will offer fine jewelry, pottery, quilts, artwork, soap, candles, Christmas ornaments, calligraphy, arts and crafts, dolls and much more. There will also be baked goods, candies and jams.

There will be a total of 24 vendors, including new and returning favorites, and Sturdivant Hall’s own gift shop will also be open.

“It’s wonderful to see the variety of talent that the fair brings to the public,” said Peggy Allison, a Sturdivant Hall board member and organizer of the fair. “We are very proud that Sturdivant Hall is able to offer this event each year for the community.”

The fair has grown every year and is a fundraiser for the historic home and museum.

“It also offers a chance for the public to see the house and furnishings and what a treasure we have right here in Selma,” Allison said.

Edie Delp will return to Selma with her fine jewelry creations. Delp and her husband retired to Florida several years ago, but she keeps returning to Selma to support the fair and Sturdivant Hall.

“I was in on the original planning to start the artisans’ fair. It’s really rewarding to see how it’s grown,” Delp said. “It’s been supported by the community very well.”

Devon Gray will offer her children’s decor, which mainly includes ice cream cones. She actually came to the fair as a shopper last year and knew she had to return in 2017. She’s lived in Selma for about a year.

“Last year, I came as a shopper so this year I’m super excited to take part,” Gray said.

The Artisans’ Fair will run Saturday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sturdivant Hall, 713 Mabry Street, Selma, AL  36701.
