Irene loved growing flowers and vegetables.  She and her husband Robert had a large garden until the age of 92. She shelled many a pea and always cooked a large boiler of peas for every family function, (even when we were having finger foods). Irene was one of 12 siblings. She grew up during the depression. She lived through WWII and the Korean War. She would go months not knowing if Robert was wounded or dead. Her generation has been rightfully called “The Greatest Generation.” The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 5-7 p.m. at Jeffcoat Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to East Tallassee Baptist  Church.
