Clifford Parke Morrison III passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, in Selma. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clifford Parke Morrison Jr. and Rosa Harper Reynolds Morrison.

Born Jan. 8, 1938, in Selma, Mr. Morrison was blessed with extended family and many friends who cared for him over the years as he graciously accepted life’s circumstances.

A life-long member of First Presbyterian Church, now Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, where was installed as an elder in 1990.

Mr. Morrison worked to bring about the installation of the Reuter Pipe Orgon in 1967, His appreciation and love for music resulted in his writing “Hymn Notes,” a column in his church newsletter. Additionally, he prepared various music services at his beloved church.

Mr. Morrison’s early years were spent in Birmingham, where he attend the Charlanne School for those with cerebral palsy. He returned to Selma, where he resided with his grandmother, Nina Hobbs Morrison, and her two daughters, Jesse and Cornelia Morrison.

He later resided at Dunn Nursing Home on Mabry Street. Clifford often traveled in his wheelchair to the YMCA on Broad Street for a swim, and many days he sat on the corner of Broad Street and Dallas Avenue at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church watching and being greeted by passers-by.

In the summers, Clifford had a “great time” at Camp ASCCA, where he particularly enjoyed the fellowship of the staff. He loved “riding in cars of all kinds” and keeping genealogical records for his family. Mr. Morrison’s final days were spent at Park Place Nursing Home.

He is survived by his first cousins Tay Morrison Long (Wiley), Kenneth Harper Morrison, Nancy Reynolds Bennett and Lee Reynolds Sewell (Randy).

Other surviving relatives include Wiley Long III (Christy), Elsie Long Ruby (Jay), William James Morrison III (Stephanie), Patton Pattillo Morrison Barton (John), Amy Bennett and Leslie Bennett King (Brian); and special friends, Vaughn Russell and Inge Bergeron.

A private family burial will take place at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
