American Apparel should be saluted for its continued success. Last week the company, which manufactures and supplies military uniforms, announced it was awarded a 5-year, $48 million contract with the United States Marine Corps to produce combat utility uniforms.

This award marks the fourth or fifth time the company was awarded the contract to make and supply these uniforms for the Marines. That alone speaks volumes about the work done right here in Selma to provide men and women in the United States military with quality uniforms.

Chuck Lambert, who oversees manufacturing and operations, said the company also has some other contracts that could be awarded in the coming months.

This is great news for the folks that work at American Apparel and for industry in Selma and Dallas County.

The more contracts American Apparel is awarded, the more the company can produce. Congratulations on the big news.
