Editorial: Hundreds of children enjoy trick-or-treating downtown, longtime Selma tradition

Seeing hundreds of children walking down Broad Street dressed in their costumes and trick-or-treating was a sight to see Tuesday afternoon.

They were all smiles as they walked from business to business filling their buckets or bags.

Main Street’s Monster March has been a longtime Selma tradition, and as always, it was a big success. The turnout was great, the costumes were creative and the candy was aplenty.

Local businesses took part by handing out candy as the children marched by showing off their super hero, princess and monster inspired outfits. We’re glad to see so much participation, and we’re sure the children will appreciate all of the candy that was handed out.

The Monster March is a great, safe way for children to take part in the Halloween tradition of trick-or-treating.

Safety is always a big concern on Halloween, so it is great for parents to not have to worry.

We hope everyone enjoyed Halloween.
