Editorial: Saints should hit goal after successful Saturday

The Selma High School marching band has been trying to raise money to purchase new uniforms this year, and after a successful 2017 Central Alabama Marching Band Festival Saturday, they should reach that goal.

Band director Brandon Williams said the competition couldn’t have gone any better. The stands were packed with people watching and enjoying the performances, and around 20  bands took the field for competition. Concordia College Alabama’s and Alabama State University’s marching bands also performed.

We’re glad to see such a great turn out for the festival, and are excited to see the band’s new uniforms. Williams said the money will help purchase uniforms so every band member can be suited up for football games and performances. We’re glad they can finally purchase those uniforms.
