Editorial: Sand Bar restaurant hosting final bingo night for shelters, rescues

Since June, the Sand Bar has hosted a bingo night to benefit the Humane Society of Central Alabama and Selma’s Purrrfect Pals to help raise money for cats and dogs in need of a good home.

By September, the benefit had raised nearly $1,000. Tonight will be the last chance for the community to join the fun and help a good cause while playing bingo and eating and drinking at the restaurant. Bingo night will start at 6:30 p.m., and proceeds from playing the game as well as a percentage of money spent on food and drinks will go to the shelter and rescue.

The funds help run the adoptable dog program and Selma’s Purrrfect Pals, pays for low-cost spay and neuter and pays for pet food among other things.

We’re glad to see a local business helping a great organization in Selma that makes a difference in the community. So many dogs and cats end up in the shelter, and they do their best to get them adopted into loving, caring homes. If you haven’t already, make sure to stop by and join the fun.
