16-year-old shot at Valley Creek Apartments

The Selma Police Department is investigating the shooting of a teenager at a housing complex late Thursday night.

According to Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier, a 16-year-old was shot while trying to get away from a man at Valley Creek Apartments on Dallas Avenue around 10:43 p.m.

The juvenile told officers he was at an apartment when he was approached by an unknown black male armed with a pistol.

When the teenager took off running to get away, the gunman fired, shooting the 16-year-old in the buttocks.

The victim was transported to the emergency room at Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are non-life threatening.

The police department’s Criminal Investigations Division and a crime scene technician responded to the scene to investigate the shooting, Collier said.

No arrest has been made, and the suspect is still at large. The department has not released a motive at this point, and the shooting is still under investigation.
