Dianne Rainer

Dianne Melton Rainer, born Jan. 23, 1945, passed away in the company of family on Oct. 4, 2017, after a courageous fight of 16 years. Dianne was born in Bonaire, Georgia and later moved to Selma with her parents and called Selma her home.
She graduated from Parrish High School in 1963. On Jan. 6, 1968, she married her childhood sweetheart, Sterl Rainer. They would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on Jan. 6, 2018. After settling in Tuscaloosa and Aliceville, they finally moved to Destin, Florida to make their final home raising three beautiful boys.
Dianne was known to her many friends as “one who spoke her mind,” helped anyone in need and loved with all her heart. She was especially loyal to her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all.
She is predeceased by parents, John and Nell Melton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Sterl Rainer; son, Price (Kelly) Rainer; son, Joel (Danyelle) Rainer; son, Melton Rainer; loyal and devoted sister, Judy Sweeney; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will include a visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma. Graveside services will be held at noon in New Live Oak Cemetery. Dr. Jerry Henry from Fairhope will be officiating. Pall bearers will be Price Rainer, Joel Rainer, Marbury Rainer, John Russell, Andy Krenkel and Dennis Wallace.
