Each year, the Selma Fire Department spends time raising money in their Fill The Boot campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

It seems like each year the department raises more money for the cause, they raised the most yet this year with $8,177. The money is used to fund research for neuromuscular diseases and provide services for local children who suffer from them.

Currently there is no cure for the disease, so it’s great to see these firefighters standing out in front of local businesses in the hot summer sun to raise money and help find the cure that so many need and want.

Selma always steps up to the plate when presented an opportunity to give back, and it’s great to know that our community supports each other and does what they can to see their neighbor succeed.

Selma is a very giving community, and we are glad that various people donated to this cause, and that the men in the fire department continue year after year to do their part.
