Businesses, nonprofits make great partners in raising money for good causes

Every Tuesday night at the Sand Bar restaurant since June, people have been getting together to play Bingo for a good cause.

It’s a way to raise money for the Humane Society of Central Alabama and Selma’s Purrrfect Pals, and so far, so good. The weekly benefit has raised close to $1,000 to help dogs and cats in need here in Selma and Dallas County.

The shelter is always getting new animals, and they are always in need of help.

Without these funds, a lot of the work they do to get dogs and cats adopted out to loving families couldn’t be done.

Bingo night is a great, fun way to get people out at night to have a good time and give back to a great cause all at the same time. The restaurant has also vowed to donate a portion of the proceeds from sales each Tuesday night.

It is great to see a Selma business teaming up with  the Humane Society and Purrrfect Pals. Businesses partnering with nonprofit organizations is something we love to see in our community. It isn’t always easy raising money for a good cause, but Bingo night seems to be doing well.

“I have two little rescue puppies myself, so I just like to help out little puppy dogs,” said Terri Carlee who was at the Sand Bar last Tuesday night. “I think it’s great. In Selma, we don’t really have a whole lot of stuff like this, and I really like coming out and doing stuff like this. It’s somewhere to go and have fun and give back.”

Bingo night is each Tuesday night.
