School board tasked with important decision

This coming Thursday night, the Selma City School Board will make an important decision for the future of students in our city. They will vote on who to hire as the school system’s next superintendent.

Johnny Moss, chairman of the board, said their decision will not be an easy one, as all five candidates that were interviewed last week left a lasting impression. Moss said each candidate has valuable experience on their resume, and the board can’t go wrong in choosing any of the five candidates for the job.

The five candidates are D. Ray Hill, Regina D. Thompson, Arthur L. Capers, Avis Williams and Robert A. Griffin.

Moss said the board was originally going to make their decision a week later, but they decided to move it up a week to go ahead and make a hire.

In the days leading up to their decision, we hope they take the time to be thorough while going through their notes and checking references. This is a critical decision for the school system.
