Man out on seven burglaries wanted in car break-ins

A 19-year-old Selma man out on bond for seven burglary charges between the county and city is wanted for breaking into several cars in Valley Grande Tuesday night, and an 18-year-old has already been arrested.

Lt. John Hatfield, an investigator with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, said Keterion Goldsby, 18, was arrested and charged with four counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
Rayford Mitchell, 19, is wanted on the same charges.
Hatfield said Goldsby and Mitchell were identified on surveillance footage from one of the homes where they allegedly broke into a vehicle.
“The video actually shows them exiting a vehicle and going up to a residence,” Hatfield said. “It shows them actually going inside the vehicle. What they were doing were getting into cars that were unlocked and going in and stealing stuff out of them.”
Hatfield said residents reported laptops, sunglasses and other items missing from their cars on County Road 81.
“They broke into four cars that we are aware of,” he said. “There may have been people in Valley Grande that just didn’t report it, and if their car got broken into Tuesday night, we need to know it if they didn’t report it.”
Hatfield said Mitchell has a criminal history of burglaries.
“It is very frustrating. Mitchell was out on bond on five burglary charges, all from 2016 and 2017, so it is apparent that Mr. Mitchell is not going to learn his lesson,” he said.

Goldsby was just arrested last week by the Selma Police Department for second-degree possession of marijuana and carrying a pistol without a permit.
“We’ve asked the district attorney’s office to file a motion to revoke [bond] for both of them,” Hatfield said. “As soon as the order comes down, we will go back and arrest Goldsby again.”
Hatfield said there haven’t been problems on County Road 81 with burglaries or car break-ins, but he urged people to keep their cars locked.
“We shouldn’t have to do this, but the citizens of Dallas County need to be sure they lock their vehicles. You shouldn’t have to do that in your own yard, but it’s the society that we live in,” he said.
