71-year-old Selma man dies in Lowndes county accident

A 71-year-old Selma man was killed Sunday night in a motorcycle crash in Lowndes County.

According to Alabama State Troopers, Jacob Allen Caver was pronounced dead on the scene after crashing his 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

According to Corporal Jesse Thornton with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Caver’s motorcycle left the roadway and struck a ditch on Lowndes County Road 54 near Tawassee Pointe Drive, around 12 miles north of Hayneville.

The crash is still under investigation, but speed is believed to be a factor in the cause of the accident.

No other information was made available by Alabama State Troopers.
