New LED lights provide more light on city streets

More progress has been made in an extensive lighting plan to brighten up Selma’s streets. Alabama Power has already finished installing new LED lighting fixtures on major roadways in Selma, such as Broad Street, Dallas Avenue, Highland Avenue and Medical Center Parkway.

The brighter lights have definitely been noticeable, making it easier to see at night while driving down the road or walking down the sidewalks. The new lighting is a great addition to the city.

Many of Selma’s streets and neighborhoods do not have adequate lighting, so it is great to see the city going through with this plan.

Mayor Darrio Melton said the next step in the plan is to install the LEDs in neighborhoods in all eight wards.

We hope people in Selma notice the different as much as we have.
