AUBURN — Auburn University’s James I. Harrison School of Pharmacy held its Spring 2017 commencement ceremony on Tuesday, May 10 at Auburn Arena.

The class of 2017 included 153 students receiving the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Three students received Master of Science (M.S.) degrees, and seven others received Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.

The class included representatives from five foreign countries, including China, India, Saudi Arabia, Southern Africa and Ukraine, and 16 states, including Alabama, Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Among the Pharm.D. graduates were Selma native Jessica Stewart and Uniontown native Kara White.

A 2010 graduate of John T. Morgan Academy, Stewart is the daughter of Ron and Cindy Stewart. Before enrolling in pharmacy school she completed her pre-pharmacy requirements at Auburn University. Stewart has accepted full-time position with CVS in Mobile. She has worked with CVS as an intern all throughout pharmacy school, beginning with a store in Selma.

A 2008 graduate of Robert C. Hatch High School, White is the daughter of Councilman Don Moore and Christine White. Before enrolling in pharmacy school, she received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Auburn University in 2012 and a master’s degree in education in 2013.
