Minter man killed in Lowndes County crash

A Dallas County man was killed Wednesday in Lowndes County in a single-vehicle accident.

According to Corporal Jesse Thornton with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 37-year-old Barnaby Ian Abner from Minter was killed around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday when the 2002 Pontiac Bonneville he was riding in left the roadway and struck a bridge column.

Abner, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver was also injured in the accident and transported to Baptist South Medical Center in Montgomery for treatment.

The crash happened on Alabama Highway 21 near the 107-mile marker in Lowndes County approximately four miles north of Waller Road.

The accident is still under investigation by Alabama State Troopers. No more information was made available.
