Rain forced several of the Selma’s Dixie youth baseball all-star games to be postponed. The 7-and-8-year-old team was set to play on Tuesday.  The team had previously won their first two games against both Monroeville and Thomasville.

“We have played pretty well this entire tournament, and I hope my guys will continue to keep up this level of play,” coach of the 7-and-8-year-old all-star team Quinn Pernell said. “My whole outlook on coaching is getting my guys to minimize the errors they make. I know they will make some, but I want to make as less as possible.”

The 11-and-12-year-olds were also supposed to play on Tuesday before the rain forced them to postpone their game until Saturday at 10:30 a.m. They will host Thomasville.

The 9-and-10-year-old all-star team is getting ready to play for the district championship against Thomasville in Monroeville.

“I feel pretty good about our team,” coach of the 9-and 10-year-old team Andre Lamar said. “I believe that our boys will do really good if they keep hitting the ball like they have been.”

All three teams are trying to become state champions. One of Selma all-star teams has already earned a spot in the World Series. It is the second year that they will play in the World Series.
