John Preston Younger

John Preston Younger, 90, passed away on June 5, 2017.

He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on Aug. 15, 1926, to the late Col. Jack Robert and Catherine Preston Younger.

Mr. Younger served in the 17th Airborne Division during World War II, and afterwards as a radio operator with the Army Air Force in the Caribbean.
He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1952, and after his marriage to his college sweetheart in 1953, he served as a station manager with Panagra Airlines in South America.

He moved to the Atlanta area in 1959 to work with Southern Airways as a flight dispatcher.

He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and The American Legion, and he was a lifetime member of the 17th Airborne Division Association, a lifetime member of the AACS Alumni Association, and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Mr. Younger is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise Younger; his son, John Younger Jr.; his daughters, Dr. Lucy Ledbetter (Gary) and Patty Ivers (Allen); his grandchildren, Jeffery Ivers, Andrew Ivers, Jenni Ivers, Rachael Ledbetter and Robert Ledbetter; his great-granddaughter, Zorah Ivers; and his sister-in-law, Joanne Connally.

A private service was held to honor his life and memory.
