Woman dies from injuries sustained in U.S. 80 accident

A 62-year-old Selma woman who was injured in a single vehicle accident last Thursday has died.

According to a release from Senior Trooper Reginal King with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Mary Emma Harris, died from injuries in a crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 80 near the 97-mile marker Thursday around 2:50 p.m.

The 1999 Ford Explorer Harris was driving left the roadway and overturned. According to King, Harris was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle when the crash occurred.

The 62-year-old was transported to Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery. She died from her injuries the next day.

The crashed happened an estimated eight miles east of Selma, and no further details have been released. Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.

Funeral arrangements have not been made yet.
