It won’t feel like much of a consolation prize, but just getting to the playoffs was a big accomplishment for the Keith Bears in the school’s second year since reviving its baseball program.

The Bears lost to New Brockton 13-3 and 17-0 in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association class 2 baseball playoffs.

New Brockton took advantage of more than a dozen Keith walks in game two. Both games were called early due to the 10-run rule. The first game was five innings long and game two was four innings.

Keith (6-6) finished second in class 2A, area 7 this season and made the playoffs for the first time since 1990.
