A 19-year-old Autaugaville man that was found in Buffalo, New York, is facing multiple attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting a man and woman in Selma earlier this month.

Delronn Maynard was arrested in Buffalo last week by U.S. Marshals with the Gulf Coast Regional Task Force. After waiving extradition, Maynard was brought to Selma Friday, where he faces three attempted murder charges and one discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle charge. He is being held at the Dallas County Jail without bond.

Three others have already been arrested in the case. Juwan Donta Howard, 18, was arrested as well as two juveniles, 16 and 14 years old. Howard was charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

Details of the two juveniles’ charges have not been released.

Sgt. Kendall Thomas with the Selma Police Department said the shooting happened on April 2 in east Selma.

“We received a phone call between 11:10 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. saying we had a gunshot victim on the 400 block of Race Street on the bypass,” Thomas said. “Once the officer got on scene, they assessed the situation and found two people that had been shot.”

There was a third person in the car, but they were not injured.

According to witnesses, Maynard and the three others were following the victims’ car and opened fire on them, injuring a man and woman.

A witness was able to identify the car and give investigators enough information to track down the alleged shooters. When officers arrested Howard and the two juveniles, the car they believed to be used in the shooting was behind Howard’s residence.

“Once we got that information, we ran the tag and it came back to Maynard,” Thomas said. “Once we got enough probable cause to arrest him, we contacted the United States Marshals, which is the Gulf Coast Regional Task Force, and they assisted us in his apprehension.”

The vehicle allegedly used in the shooting is a 1996 burgundy Jaguar, which was recovered at Howard’s home. Investigators also recovered an AK-47 assault rifle as well as Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handguns.
