Morgan tennis team rolls past Springwood

The Morgan Academy tennis team continued its hot start to the season with a dominant showing Tuesday against Springwood School.

Both Senators’ teams won all six of their singles matches in two sets and also won all four of their doubles matches.

In boys tennis, Will Brackin topped Anath Reddy in No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-4; George Jones ousted Venu Reddy 6-1, 7-5 in No. 2 singles; Mason Perkins nearly shutout Simon He 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 singles; Taylor Jones defeated Wyatt Albertson 6-3, 6-3 in No. 4 singles; Belal Hammad won easily over McLane Martin 6-4, 6-0 in No. 5 singles; and Trevor Wilson beat Nan Dang 8-2.

In doubles, Brackin and George Jones defeated Reddy and He 6-4, 6-3 and Taylor Jones and Perkins defeated Reddy and Albertson 6-2, 6-3.

In girls tennis, Morgan No. 1 seed Natalie Cain topped Ashton Westbrook 6-0, 6-0; Ellie Adams won tiebreakers to beat Elizabeth McCendon 7-6, 7-6; Emily Sherrer beat Ashley Phillips 6-1, 6-1; Mary Ashlyn Pearce shutout Grace Foster 6-0, 6-0; Lilly Yonugblood won 6-0, 6-0 over Sarah Smith and Maggie Youngblood beat Jesilyn Mabry 8-0.

Cain and Adams won 6-0, 6-2 in doubles over Westbrook and Phillips and Sherrer and Talton won 6-2, 6-0 over Smith and McClendon.
