Memorial services for Thomas Arthur (Tom) Morris Jr. will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Benson officiating. There will be a graveside service at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in charge.

Thomas Arthur (Tom) Morris, 88, passed peacefully from this earth on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at the North Pointe Health Rehabilitation Facility in Meridian, Mississippi.

Tom was born on Aug. 19, 1928, in Anniston. He graduated from Albert G. Parish High School in 1946. He then went on to graduate from Auburn University in 1950, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.

After settling in Selma, Tom was engaged in the hardwood lumber business from 1950 until his retirement.

While in Selma, he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order Alumni Association, president of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, member of the Selma Rotary Club, president of the Lumber Trade Association, founding member of the Maverick Class, and longtime member of First Baptist Church. After retiring from the lumber business, he took permanent residence in Meridian, Mississippi.

He is survived by his wife, Nadia Edgerton Morris; son, Tommy Morris (Dawn); daughters, Sara Garcia (Jim) and Karen Burgess (Jerry); stepsons, Mike Edgerton (Shazawee) and Richard Edgerton (Cornelia); as well as seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Carter Morris; parents, Thomas Arthur Morris Sr. and Lila Ellis Morris; and sister, Mary Morris Semmingson.
