For the last month, the Times-Journal has featured a teacher of the week in our Sunday edition.

It is something we started to give our readers an opportunity to learn more about the people teaching their children and showcase how they got to be where they are today. We have done stories on teachers from schools all over town.

We’ve talked to teachers from Edgewood, Morgan, Meadowview and Sophia P. Kingston to name a few, and we hope to continue talking to other teachers from even more schools.

Teachers aren’t always given the credit they deserve, so this is a great way to recognize them and show appreciation for the work they do inside and outside of the classroom. Being a teacher isn’t an easy job, so we commend those that do a good job at it, as it helps build the future of our community.
