A Marion Junction man died Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident outside Valley Grande.

According to Alabama State Senior Trooper Reginal King, 56-year-old Lou Acoff was killed in the accident.

It happened at 12:40 p.m. Friday on Alabama Highway 22.

King said Acoff was killed when the 1991 GMC Van he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.

The 56-year-old, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened near the 34-mile marker, which is two and a half miles east of Valley Grande.

No further information is available at this time. The accident is under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.
