Regions to consolidate Selma locations

The Regions Bank branch on Broad Street will close in April to consolidate with the Church Street branch.
Mel Campbell, spokesperson for Regions Bank, said employees and customers were notified of the changes last week.
“In recent years, Regions has taken a very deliberate approach to evolving how we serve our customers, looking at both new models for businesses and our branch locations,” Campbell said in a statement. “Our focus has been on evaluating the total customer experience across all of our delivery channels and reviewing locations and policies so we can use our resources as efficiently as possible.”
Campbell said a review of the company’s branch network determined consolidating the Broad Street branch with the one on Church Street would be the best way to maximize service for customers in the area.
“A careful review of our branch network has identified opportunities to consolidate locations based on traffic, volume, proximity of other branches, profitability and other factors,” Campbell said.
It is unclear how many people are employed at the Broad Street location, but Campbell said the company would work to find other job opportunities.
“We will make every effort to identify other jobs in the company for affected associates where possible,” he said.
According to a letter that was sent out by Regions, the Broad Street location will close April 28 at 2 p.m.
The Church Street branch is located at 101 Church St. According to the letter, which was signed by Area President Leroy Abrahams, the Church Street location will be open Monday through Friday. Hours for Monday through Thursday are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the lobby and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m for drive-up. Friday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the lobby and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for drive-up.
