Concordia College to have open house

Concordia College Alabama is hoping to see some new faces Feb. 4 when it holds an open house.

Norman Richards, director of recruitment for the college, said the college is excited to have prospective students on campus so they can show off what the college has to offer in person, especially since it will be homecoming.

“We’re hoping that they take away a love of how our school is, the small atmosphere, what Concordia has to offer and the small classroom size,” the recruiter said. “We just want them to come experience it versus just hearing about it from other students. We’re hoping we’ll be able to change a few minds about what they thought about the school prior to visiting the school.”

The open house will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Richards said all students interested in attending the college are invited to attend.

“We’re hoping that we do have a big turnout,” he said. “We also have a bus that will be coming in from Memphis, Tennessee with students from all high schools in the area.”

Students that are interested in attending can sign up at www.ccal.edu and click on the “Open House” tab. Two guests are allowed for each student.

“That day is going to be for them to meet with the other students that are coming to the open house, be able to talk to them about why they decided to come to the open house, to see what is interesting about Concordia,” Richards said.

Prospective students will also get a chance to tour the dorms and talk to the staff about the degrees the school has to offer.

“We want to give them a tour of the residence hall and meet with current students about why they chose to come to Concordia,” the recruiter said. “They will also meet with our faculty and staff to discuss the 20 different degrees that we offer at Concordia.”

Richards said students will be provided with a t-shirt, lunch and tickets to Concordia’s homecoming game against cross-town rival Selma University.

“We’re extremely excited,” he said.
