Nellie Louise (Irby) Tensley

Nellie Louise (Irby) Tensley, born on Dec. 29, 1940, to the late Richard Irby Sr. and Deedie Paige of Orrville.

Nellie (affectionately known as Louise) passed away on Dec. 9, 2016, in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Jr., James, Johnny Lee and Earnest (Corrine); and sister, Alma Mae Irby.

She leaves behind one brother, Sam (Mattie-D); and two sisters, Mary and Lena Irby.

Nellie leaves five children, Dorothy, Gloria, Delores, Lewis (Toya) and Jo. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, Latisha, Ebony, Joseph, James, Domonique, Jamone, D’Ante, Samone, Latasha and Lewis III; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friends.

Nellie retired as a motor inspector from Great Lakes Steel in 1998; however, she continued to hobby in her love for cars, engines and fixing whatever electronics she could get her hands on. She continued the upkeep of her property in Orrville and had a desire to move back to her hometown.

Penn Funeral Home, 3015 Inkster Road, Inkster, MI 48141 will provide the viewing on Dec. 15, from 2–7 p.m., and the funeral will be held on Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan, 48221.
