Those wanting to get a jump start on Christmas shopping while also supporting a good cause will have that opportunity Saturday at the sixth annual Sturdivant Hall Artisans Fair.
The fair will feature original paintings, ceramics, pine straw baskets, calligraphy, jewelry, quilts, scarves, fine wooden bowls, doll clothes, lotions, soaps and candles, jams and jellies, breads, cakes, candy and cheeses.
“We have a lot of local artists and some artists from out of town, and every year we try to have some new things for the public,” said Peggy Allison, chairman of the artisans fair.
Allison said the fair is a great time for people to go ahead and get some of their Christmas shopping done.
“It’s especially a good time to be having it the week before Thanksgiving,” Allison said. “People will have a chance to start their Christmas shopping a little early and find things to take home for Thanksgiving.”
Allison said there will be more than 20 vendors at the event, and there is something for everyone.
“It’s a really fun event, and the public has just really turned out for it each year. Always our vendors are very happy with what they sell,” Allison said. “We have so many different price ranges, so we have something for everybody.”
The fair is also a fundraiser, and Allison said a great way of getting people in the door at Sturdivant.
“It’s a great event not only for the community to have an opportunity to come and see all of the great pieces of work, but it’s a chance for us to show off Sturdivant Hall. It’s such a treasure for our community,” Allison said. “I think a lot of people have been to Sturdivant Hall, but I think a lot of people have not, and it’s a good opportunity to open the doors for the public.”
Allison said her favorite thing about the event is how many choices people have and how many different vendors attend.
“I love the variety of the things that we have and look forward to the new things coming in. They really do wonderful work,” Allison said.
“I just hope everybody will come by and join us for a really fun day.”
The Artisans Fair will take place Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Sturdivant Hall.
