Selma City Ceramics is offering the community some unique decorations for the fall season.

City Ceramics is having its first pumpkin patch sale, during which they are offering up unique, one-of-a-kind pumpkins made by ladies in the ceramics program.

“Every one of them is different. Even if you think they look alike, they’re not,” said Vickie Simmons, who participates in the program. “It’s just a lot of fun to do them, and it’s a lot of fun looking at them.”

Simmons said most of the pumpkins are made by members Wendy Speed and Patricia Tharp, who have been creating the pumpkins and other works for years at City Ceramics.

“They love doing pumpkins, so they decided to do a pumpkin sale,” Simmons said.

The pumpkins range from $3 to more than $30, and are various sizes, creating plenty of options.

”Some of them are very simple, some of them take a great deal of work,” Simmons said. “Some of them don’t take long at all, and some of them are very time consuming.”

Simmons said a benefit of having the pumpkin sale is not only selling the ceramics but also getting people who may not ordinarily come in, to see what all they have to offer.

“Some people come in they go, ‘Oh, you mean I can do that’ and they can,” Simmons said. “We’ve had several people interested and asking questions about the program and what they can do. We had two to join today.”

Simmons said the sale has been going well so far, but she is hoping more people will come out this week to support the ceramics program and the artists.

“We’ve had several sales and everybody that come in, enjoys really looking at them,” Simmons said. “They’re just so festive.”

City Ceramics is located in the old Dallas Academy building.

They will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4 pm. and again Wednesday night from 7-9 p.m. Simmons said anyone interested in purchasing a pumpkin or getting involved in City Ceramics can go by during those times.
