The annual Lobsterfest is right around the corner and those wanting a ticket to the feast only have a few days left.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is gearing up for the event, which brings in around 500 people each year.

“It takes us a couple months of planning, but then a week to set up to get ready for it,” said Barbara Leet, co-chairwoman of Lobsterfest. “There are so many jobs to do and it takes all of St. Paul’s parishioners to get it going.”

The fresh Maine lobsters are some of the best lobsters, according to Leet.

“The lobsters are wonderful,” Leet said. “These are flown in from Maine, and they’re alive when they get here and the gentleman comes to cook them on site, and they are fresh and they are the best I’ve ever tasted.”

Jack Alvey, rector of St. Paul’s, said the event is a great way to get the members of the church and the community together.

“It’s a great opportunity for the people of St. Paul’s to welcome people from the community into the church to have a good time and eat dinner,” Alvey said.

“I look forward seeing how different groups at St. Paul’s work together to pull this big event off. It takes a lot of people and a lot of hard work for it to work.”

Leet said Lobsterfest comes at just the right time, with cooler weather and a fall setting to being people together.

“The main event is bringing our community together and getting to see people that you may not get to see otherwise,” Leet said. “We’d love for everybody to come.”

The Lobsterfest is a fundraiser for Little Friends School to help cover expenses throughout the year.

The annual Lobsterfest is set to take place Thursday, Oct. 13. Tickets to eat in are $35, and to go tickets are available for $30.

“[The drive through] is an opportunity for people that don’t have the time to be able to come in … they can always run by and pick up a dinner to have when they get home,” Leet said.

Seating is limited for those eating in. Dining in times are at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the church at 874-8421.

All tickets must be purchased by Oct. 7.

“It’s a great meal, and we want the whole community to come out and enjoy it because it only happens once a year,” Leet said.
