Stew sale helps SABRA

The work SABRA Sanctuary does in this community and in surrounding areas is vitally important. The shelter helps women dealing with domestic violence and gets them the help they need.
The numbers behind domestic violence are terrifying and they need to change. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, nearly 20 people per minute are abused by an intimate partner in the United States.
That number is hard to wrap your mind around, but it again speaks volumes to how major a problem domestic violence is in this country. It happens everywhere, including in the Selma and Dallas County area.
Thankfully, SABRA is here and willing to give a helping hand to anyone in that terrible situation. On Monday, the nonprofit sold stew to raise funding for repairs at its shelter.
With the help of the Civitan Club of Selma and Alabama Teen Challenge, the club made over 700 quarts of stew.
The community showed its support for SABRA, with people stopping by in car loads to pick up quart after quart of stew.
Once again, when there’s a chance to give, Selma showed just how willing it is to help out.
Thanks to the support of the community, SABRA can continue to do the work it does in the Selma and Dallas County area.
