Man shot at Valley Creek Apartments during robbery

A man was shot and critically injured during an early morning robbery Monday at Valley Creek Apartments on Dallas Avenue.

At approximately 1 a.m., officers received calls about a gunshot victim at the apartments. A few minutes later, dispatch received a call that the victim was in Vaughan Regional Medical Center’s emergency room.

According to authorities, a 20-year-old Selma man was sitting on a porch with a few of his friends when two masked and armed men approached.

After being robbed of about $20, the victim tried to flee the area in his vehicle and was shot, according to investigators.

The victim was shot in the left chest area and the left thigh area.

After the shooting, the victim transported himself to the hospital emergency room.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Tuscaloosa for further treatment and is in critical care according to investigators. No other injuries were reported.

Lt. Sam Miller said there are no leads on suspects as of midday Monday.
