A two-vehicle crash Sunday night claimed the life of a Newbern man and injured three others.

Johnny Lewis, 51, was killed when the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving collided with a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by Francesca Anita Eldridge, 28, of Helena.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene. Eldridge and two passengers in the GMC were take to Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment for their injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which occurred on Alabama 61 near the one mile marker, approximately one mile north of Uniontown.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
