Children ages 3-9 will compete for their respective league championships, starting Saturday at 9 a.m. Valley Grande recreational director Bubba Holley said Championship Saturday always draws a huge crowd from Valley Grande.

“They play this every year and they always try to make it a real big thing,” Holley said.

Ages 3-5 play in a T-ball league and ages 6-9 play in the coach-pitch league, and every team is still in the running for a league trophy. There were 10 games this season for every team, but Holley said all the teams are still in the running for a league title regardless of how they performed in the regular season.

“It doesn’t weigh good or bad against you,” Holley said. “You can still come out and win the tournament.”

Last year, Holley said there were over 400 people who attended Championship Saturday. This year, Holley expects even more to show up. Holley said the amount of players in the league is up 47 percent from last season.
