She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Maplesville on July 12, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Coon Sr., parents Thomas Claud and Earlie Knight Bearden, infant sister, Claudette, brothers Raymond, James, and Norman Bearden and her daughter-in-law Marilyn Wilson (Lynn) Dailey. She is survived by sons William “Bill” Dailey of Greenfield, Indiana; John D. Coon, Jr. of Selma and daughter, Eleanor Nichols also of Selma; brother Richard Bearden of Birmingham and sister, Barbara Jean Miller of Perry, Georgia. Other survivors include grandchildren Rebecca (Shawn) Crull; Ben (Sydney), Jeff (Sherrie), Pat (Brooke) Nichols and Great grandchildren John Allen, James Doston, Clayton, Haley, Hope Nichols; Brannon and Alex Crull; and special nieces, Kelli Miller and Lisa Bearden Dempsey; and many other nieces and nephews.

Frances was a member of Elkdale Baptist Church where she served for many years in the kitchen for the Wednesday night suppers. She was one of the earliest employees of U&W Manufacturing Co. in Selma.  She also worked for many years for Bearden Catering. After retiring, she worked tirelessly and was blessed to help shut-in friends and families with household needs or food she prepared in her kitchen. She loved sewing, quilting and gardening. Her quilts are cherished by friends and family who received them. Her real pleasure was working in her yard and raising hybrid day lilies.
