A 12-year-old girl was injured in one of at least three shootings that took place early Sunday morning.

The first shooting happened between midnight and 1 a.m. Officers responded to a call of reckless endangerment and shots fired in the 100 block of Washington Street outside the Grown and Sexy Club.

When they arrived on the scene, officers spoke to a security guard at the club. The guard told officers a man wearing a white shirt and white pants had fired a gun.

Selma Police Department Lt. Sam Miller said officers approached the subject and he began to run. After a short pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.

James Taylor, 35, of Camden, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, public intoxication and possession of marijuana. Taylor was given a $4,000 bond, which he has since posted.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Not long after the first shooting, officers responded to a second at a convenience store in the 600 block of Broad Street between 1:30 and 1:40 a.m.

Miller said two men were reportedly standing next to their vehicles and talking when shots erupted. The men ducked behind their vehicles, and witnesses saw sparks hitting around the cars.

No one was injured at the store either; however, a window was damaged in the shooting. Investigators continue to work the case but have no suspects as of Monday morning.

The third shooting occurred between 1:50 and 2:20 a.m. Officers were called out to a shooting into an occupied home in the 1500 block of L.L. Anderson Avenue. A 12-year-old was grazed in the arm and taken by her mother to Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators speculate the crime was a drive-by shooting and are looking for suspects.

Miller said it’s hard to tell at the moment if any of the shootings are related because of how closely they occurred.
