Eugenia Leigh Stubbs Battle was called home on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016, after a brief illness. She graced this earth and the lives of all who knew and loved her for over 75 years. Born and raised in Birmingham, she graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She served as president of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After years as a dedicated mother and wife, she helped found and grow The Collegiate Licensing Company. She was an accomplished pianist, who still enjoyed playing for her grandchildren.

Entertaining was her specialty. Her home and lake house were open to all she loved and their friends. When you sat at her always beautifully set table, you were treated to a delicious meal prepared with love and hospitality that was second to none. She was the epitome of a southern lady. Affectionately known to her grandchildren, and eventually all, as Gingi, she is survived by her children Pat Battle (Alice Ann), Mike Battle (Mary Fleeta) and Shannon Tanner (Chad). Her “Grands” include Will Battle, Mary Raines Johnson (Brandon), Mary Catherine Battle, Annie Battle, Denver Pingley and Mary Scott Pingley. She is also survived by her brothers, Ron Stubbs (Martha) and Donnie Stubbs. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, May 14 from 2:15 – 3:15 p.m. in the chapel at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, located at 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA, 30068. A memorial service will take place in the chapel beginning at 3:30 p.m. with a celebration to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Grateful Hearts Ministries or Shepherd Center.
