William C. Fancher, 78, born August 11, 1937, passed away on May 1, 2016, at his home in Oneonta.

He is predeceased by his parents Alvin and Emma Fancher; grandson, Leroy Fancher; great granddaughter, Abby Fancher; brother, Jimmy Fancher; sisters, Mollie Floyd and Sarah Gresham; brothers-in-law, Grady Rush and William Gresham; son-in-law, Joe Wheeler; and former wife, Minnie Nickles.

He is survived by eight children, W. Craig Fancher (Shani), Robert A. Fancher (Melinda), Charles A. Fancher (Lorraine), Kimberly Fancher Smith (Scott), Donald R. Johnson II (Paula), James W. Johnson (Kathy), Lynne Johnson Wheeler and Richard A. Johnson (Jan); former wife, Betty Chandler; and 22 grandchildren, Curtis Fancher (Sara), Timothy Fancher, Robert Fancher (Lena), Robbie Fancher (Ashley), Shelley Hinton (Stephen), Matthew Sanders (Brittany), Kyle Fancher (fiancé, Jordan), Cody Sanders, Wesley Johnson (Shannon), Alan Johnson (Karmen), Laura Gaddy (Jonathan), Ashley Phillips (Jason), Jessica Keith (Chris), Michael Johnson (Katie), Jody Wheeler, Mandy Kilpatrick (Chad), Melissa Brasseale (Terry), Kyle Nelson (Melissa), William Lace, Asa Lace, Thomas Lace and Christopher Lace; 48 great-grandchildren; brothers, Allen Fancher, Thomas Fancher (Harriet), Alvin Fancher Jr. and Charles Fancher (Shela); sister, Carolyn Ware (Mickey), as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 6 from 1 – 3 p.m. at Lemley Funeral Chapel, located at 6878 2nd Avenue W., Oneonta, AL 35121. A funeral service will follow immediately at 3 p.m. The service will be conducted by brother Dan Boatman with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Fancher, Robert Fancher, Robbie Fancher, Kyle Fancher, Matthew Sanders and Cody Sanders. Lemley Funeral Home & Crematory will be directing.
